Serbian Undergraduate Scholarships – 2022/23
Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankans for the award of 01 undergraduate scholarship offered by the Republic of Serbia under "The World in Serbia" Project for the academic year 2022/23.
01. General Eligibility requirements: -
(a) Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
(b) Age should be less than 21 years at 10.10.2022
(c) The applicant should have a minimum of three passes at the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination in Physical Science stream, conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka.
(d) Should possess a good knowledge of English. (Should have obtained a “C” pass in English at the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination and “S” pass at the G.C.E A/L Examination)
(e) Should be in good health and ready to live in Serbia during the period of study.
(f) Applicant should not be registered or following a course at a state university in Sri Lanka as an internal student (a student selected by UGC based on the G.C.E. A/L results).
02. Medium of instructions: Serbian Language
03. Terms of Award:
(a) free preparatory classes of Serbian (Online course and intensive Serbian language course after the arrival in the Republic of Serbia)
(b) Free education
(c) Scholarship in the amount of RSD 15,000.00 per month.
(d) Free accommodation and meals
(e) Compulsory health insurance for scholarship holders up to the age of 26
(f) Free residence visa
The scholarship does not include;
Travel expenses for arrival and departure from the Republic of Serbia
Costs of public transport in the Republic of Serbia
Costs of textbooks and work resources during the studies
04. Special Notes:
(a) Candidates who are awarded a scholarship for undergraduate studies would not be considered for university admission process of the University Grants Commission.
(b) Conditions laid down in this notification may vary as per the criteria imposed by the Serbian authorities without prior notice.
(c) Candidates after the receipt of placements cannot decline the scholarship except under a situation that the Higher Educational Institute concerned is not recognized by the University Grants Commission.
(d) If any student declines the offer (except under the above c) after the selection process, he/she will not be considered for any of the scholarships during the year.
(e) Extension of the period of the scholarship will not be recommended by this Ministry.
05. Applications:
(a) The deadline of the submission of the application is 10th October 2022
(b) Each applicant should submit only one application and not required to send application by postal.
(c) Any statement in the application, which is found to be incorrect before selection, will render the applicant liable to disqualification. If such inaccuracy is found after selection it will lead to the withdrawal of the award.
(d) Any application, which is incomplete in any respect or received late, will be rejected.
06.Nominations & Selections:
Nomination will be made by the merit order of the Z. score of the qualified applicant. This nomination will be forwarded to the Government of Serbia. 3
The final selections will be made by the Government of Serbia as the awarding authority accordingly. Therefore, no candidate should treat his/her nomination for a scholarship as an acceptance for an award. Acceptance is a matter entirely within the discretion of the awarding authority.
Any form of canvassing either written or verbal will be considered as a disqualification for a scholarship.
